Mares

Horsepeople know that geldings are so (so!) much easier than mares. They're sweeter, and gentler, and less bossy, and generally easier to get along with. But there's just something different--more--about a mare. She'll break your heart a million times and keep you coming back for more. She's not shy about how she feels at any given point in time. She'll give you everything she's got (when she wants to) and when she does, it's physically painful to know that that horse is so in tune with you.

Then she'll bite you in the ass and run away with the bit between her teeth. :)

These are two of my favorite mares.

East

I'm very fond of the plains. Can't help it. Maybe it's a product of being born in Oklahoma. We don't have real plains here on the Front Range of Colorado, but I drove east about 15 miles this afternoon to see if I could find fake plains, and I came across this field of sunflowers just in time to watch the sun go down.

Dino

The cuteness:

Aside from my dogs, she's my favorite person.

I even give her the good orange juice cartons.

Aaaaand It's December

I have a whole pile of horse shots left to show you, dear readers, but for my first December post I thought I'd surprise you by giving you KITTENS.

We have two little kittens at the barn where I work. They are just the right size to put in my pocket and sneak home with me!
