Copper and Bones

By far the best quotable line from this session (and the days leading up to it) was:

"Cop is on the bed and Bones is down on the floor chewing on a baby."

Um.

YESH.

First of all, these dogs have the greatest names in the entire world.

Meet Copper:

And their mom, Kay Beth:

Today was the first time we'd met. I've been following her adventures through South America on her blog for months now, so when she said she was coming up to Colorado for a couple weeks, we knew we had to meet! After all, anyone who loves her dogs as much as I love mine is a good egg in my book.

Kay Beth adopted both her Goldens from Sooner Golden Retriever Rescue, in Oklahoma.

I think they love her. A little bit.

We played a game of Tangly Legs in the parking lot.

Copper thought it was really funny.

Bones is a little more serious.

martin 3

OMG. (Cute.)

Poor Bones has some sore hips, so his mom takes very good care of him. Don't you think if the whole world showed this much compassion, we'd be better off?

martin 13

MEAN!

martin 35

This is one of my favorites. Can't explain it; it just is!

better

(Much better.)

Thanks to Kay Beth and her pups for coming all the way out from Oklahoma!

The End.

Lovey Love Love

Yesh.

I just got home from my morning session with Kay Beth and her gorgeous Goldens (GOLDEN SLIPPERS! AGH! I'm dying of cuteness over here). I know she's dying to see what we got today, so just thought I'd give her a little teaser!

And, Kay Beth, you KNOW I had to do it....

More to come this afternoon!

The Blizzard and Stuff

First there was a blizzard.

march 29-5

Then the Spring Timez came:

And the Pokey Things.

march 29-3

march 29-4

If you've met me before, you know that I am NOT good at keeping surprises to myself. If I get you a present, I will tell you what it is before I give it to you. Very bad. I just get really excited and if I don't tell someone I might implode. Poof. And so that is why you're the first (or second, or fourth) to know that I will soon be enjoying some Full Frame Lovin'! Yesh. My savings depleted, I invested in a used 5D and it will be here in just a few days!

5D party at my house, anyone?

Plane View Farm

march 25-6

I have been having serious horse withdrawals for a long time now. Debilitating, really.

Luckily, before I had to resort to asking for a pony of my own, I was invited out to Plane View Farm in Erie, about 15 miles from my house.

march 25-1

While Lauren showed me around, we talked about the individual horses' stories. Many of the horses who now live on the farm would have ended up at slaughter houses if Plane View hadn't stepped in and saved them from the auction block. Lauren and the other trainers find that many of these horses are trained or trainable, and place them in loving homes after giving them a lot of TLC (and carrots.) You can read about Plane View's efforts on their "sales and saves" page.

march 25-23

I've always been a horse girl, but I still can't figure out my favorite thing about them.

march 25-2

march 25-3

march 25-5

I love late-winter fuzziness.

march 25-18

march 25-22

Sleek summer coats are gorgeous, of course, but there's just something about the Winter Fuzzies that make me smile and want to snuggle up with a pony.

march 25-17

march 25-4

I miss knowing all the horses as individuals. When I worked at the barn in Montana, the other barn girls and I could talk for hours about each horse's quirks, his particular brand of sweetness and naughtiness, the distinct markings on his legs and head, and where he best liked being scratched.

march 25-9

Ack! I'm making myself homesick for the barn!

march 25-21

One of the last residents I met was the donkey. I wanted to put him in my pocket and bring him home with me. Apparently he's nine million years old- the farm got him from an auction thinking they'd just give the old guy a safe, warm place to go for his last days, not even knowing if he'd make it through the winter. That was nine years ago and the old dude is still going strong! He's a snuggle bug!

march 25-28

And his ear hair... I love.

march 25-32

march 25-29

march 25-30

march 25-31

Horses and donkeys and geese....

march 25-26

... oh my!

march 25-25

Every horse I met at Plane View was friendly and curious about the funny thing I was pointing at them. It made funny noises and a couple of them were sure it ate horses, but I was able to convince them otherwise.

march 25-24

This big guy was the most ferocious dog I've ever met. His tail wagged so hard I thought it was going to leave a bruise. And the drool! Yesh, I was clobbered with kisses. A horrible way to go. ; ) Terrifying, really.

march 25-8
How can you say no to that face???

march 25-7

A big thank you to Lauren for inviting me out and introducing me to all the horses!
