I'm very fond of the plains. Can't help it. Maybe it's a product of being born in Oklahoma. We don't have real plains here on the Front Range of Colorado, but I drove east about 15 miles this afternoon to see if I could find fake plains, and I came across this field of sunflowers just in time to watch the sun go down.

You might like to try reading Marilynne Robinson's Gilead, set in Kansas and Iowa. She writes about the light on the prairie so beautifully.
