Caterpillars and Chihuahuas

We went here today with our usual Tuesday gang:

Once again, I'm not that happy with the way most of these pictures turned out, but just seeing a giant fuzzy caterpillar made me feel better anyway. This guy was not scheduled to walk with us but he didn't seem to mind us passing through.

I've never seen a heron here (maybe they're hiding since they're sensitive?)...

But there was a wild Chihuahua sighting. Just kidding! That's Cocoa. He belongs to my friend Diane, who not only has a Chihuahua, but also two ACDs and an Aussie. No, I didn't say she was sane, I just said she was my friend. Cocoa is actually one of the coolest little dogs I know. He doesn't have Little Man Complex, and he keeps up with the rest of the gang just fine. His little legs look like buffalo wings, in case you were wondering.

Wildthing is pretty cool too, for a little guy.

After the walk, Char needed to play fetch. Like, STAT.

Welcome to my field! Throw my ball!

Blooper shot!

Here you go! I brought it back! Now throw it again

I love her ears here. I mean, here is proof of the rule: Objects in motion tend to stay in motion. Also, I love her left arm. What is it doing?

Wilbur was just miserable, can't you tell? He was a little worn our from our walk earlier, so he was happy to sit with his wildthing while Char had all the fun.

Then he died. Char thought that was pretty funny (don't worry- he came back to life when I busted out the cookies.)

Insert cookie here:

Now, my dogs eat nothing but the best foods, but I am soooo not above using processed cheese food if it will proof my dogs' recalls. Easy Cheese is Doggie Crack.

I see herons all the time when we're hiking. Usually, I hear them take off and see them fly away because we walked within 100 feet of where ever they're hanging out.

So, maybe if I get fake cheese in a can Colyn will learn to come when I call him? Actually, he recalls about 65% of the time now. Which is way better than it used to be. I just can't let him know we're practicing a recall.
